The County Commission next Wednesday will consider a resolution to approve a cell tower being erected at East Ridge High School.
Justin Witt, county school administrator of facilities and maintenance, said it would initially generate $1,500 per month. He said the school would receive half that amount and the other half would go to the county school technology fund.
He said there would be further payments after a third carrier has been added to the tower.
Cell towers were erected earlier at CSAS, Central High and Orchard Knob Middle School.
Commissioner Tim Boyd asked where on the campus it would be erected. He said, "This is right in my back yard. I don't like looking at cell towers."
Commissioner Warren Mackey inquired about the health effect of cell towers on school children and others.
Chairman Chester Bankston noted that the CSAS tower "is right beside Erlanger Hospital. That one was really, really vetted."
