City Offers Free Leaf Mulch To Chattanooga Residents

  • Friday, April 15, 2016

Leaf mulch is now available to citizens at no cost from the City of Chattanooga's Wood Recycle Center as long as the material is available. The Wood Recycle Center is located at 3925 N. Hawthorne St. and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.

until 4 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Here are some things to keep in mind when picking up mulch:

  • Mulch is available at no charge to City of Chattanooga residents when a valid driver's license is presented.

  • Leaf mulch will be loaded for customers.

  • All loads must be covered before leaving the facility.

  • Residents are limited to a standard size pick-up truck or single axle trailer for free loads of mulch.

  • Non-city residents will be charged standard rates.

Residential leaf collection begins in November and continues through February. During collection season, Public Works crews cycle through the city gathering loose leaves multiple times. Last year, residents were able to track this progress with the addition to the interactive service map, which also shows the progress of Public Works trucks on recycling, trash pickup, ice and snow treatment, and street sweeping.
