Chattanooga firefighters will kick-off a big "Fill the Boot" fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) on Thursday, at
9:30 a.m., at Station 1 at 218 E. Main Street. An MDA ambassador will wave a flag to start four fire companies out to their pre-designated locations to collect donations.
The firefighters will be collecting donations from
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday through
Saturday.
The Chattanooga Fire Department, along with the Chattanooga Fire Fighters Association, Local 820, raised $80,500 last year, beating all other fire departments in the state. This year's goal is to raise $100,000. The money raised helps MDA find urgently needed treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases that severely limit strength and mobility.
