150 Chattanooga Area T-Mobile Employees Volunteering Their Time At Local Boys And Girls Club

  • Friday, April 22, 2016

One hundred fifty local T-Mobile employee volunteers will work to transform Chattanooga’s Boys and Girls Club Highland Park Unit, 2312 Duncan Ave., which serves more than 600 kids with after school programming, into a "dynamic environment for learning and fun."

T-Mobile employees will help renovate and beautify both the inside and outside of the Club, creating a Huddle Up Teen Zone, enhancing the community garden, and painting murals and walls throughout the facility.

T-Mobile Huddle Up is the company’s national community outreach program that connects kids to positive people, places and programs, especially after school hours.

Since 2005, more than 100 T-Mobile Huddle Up events have engaged more than 15,000 T-Mobile volunteers and provided 121,000 hours of service benefiting nearly 74,000 children.

The event will take place on Thursday.  The schedule is as follows:

9:10- 9:30 a.m.: Opening Program

·  Welcome from Tim Krug, T-Mobile Chattanooga’s Call Center director

·  Welcome from Boys and Girls Club Highland Park Unit

9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.: Project work. Volunteers will break for lunch between noon and 12:30 p.m.

3 p.m.: Closing Program. T-Mobile volunteers will “reveal” new areas and T-Mobile Huddle Up Zone to program youth.

"T-Mobile Huddle Up addresses the critical need for safe, quality after school programs for kids nationwide. After school programs not only help keep kids safe, but they also provide fun opportunities for kids to connect with positive mentors and role models, to receive educational support and learn important social and life skills. To keep kids, families and communities connected, T-Mobile invests significant resources, technology and employee time in the communities where employees live and work," officials said.  "In addition, T-Mobile Huddle Up provides an opportunity for team building and community volunteering for employees."
