Mary Sue Cochran Oglesby died on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at a local nursing home.
Born July 22, 1928 in Thomaston, Ga., to Ollie Howard and Essie Mae (Maze) Cochran, she was the wife of Victor Alton “Al” Oglesby for 57 years. He preceded her in death.
A resident of East Ridge since 1962, “Sue” was a great cook, an avid reader and enjoyed years spent as a volunteer with Red Cross. Sue was the loving mother of four children, three of whom survive her: Donna O. (Richard L.) Huskey; Victor T. (Rhonda) Oglesby; and Mark E. (Arden) Oglesby. Son David Alton Oglesby preceded her in death.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Richard Michael “Mike” Huskey; Steven L. “Steve” (No-Elle) Huskey; Stacy O. (Erik) Gray; Meghan O. (Sam) Merciers; Amanda O. (Rob) Roshon; and Corinne Oglesby; great-grandchildren, Cade and Skyler Huskey; Rigby and Lucy Gray; Connor and Joplin Miller; Parker and Garrett Roshon; sisters, Christine Hilley of Yatesville, Ga., and Diane (Pat) Windham, of Newnan, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, at the funeral home with Reverend Forest Prosser officiating.
Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
