The parents of 18-year-old Kishon King appeared in Judge Don Poole's courtroom on Monday in an attempt to reduce their son's $100,000 bond.

King has been charged with attempted first-degree murder for the Aug. 23, 2015 shooting on 7th Avenue where shots were fired at Nicholas Yearby, striking Jaylin Dave.

Gregory King said that his son is a good student, who is still taking classes while in jail and on track to graduate.

He said that his son had no trouble prior to the August arrest and was thinking of going to Chattanooga State for welding. King's mother, Vonnetta Springs, said that her son is very good with his older brother, who has Williams syndrome.

Prosecutors directed attention to Kishon King's suspensions from school for fighting and other disobedience at Howard High School.

The court's ruling will take place on May 25.
