Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 3:20 a.m. on Tuesday, to 9126 Westminster Circle to investigate a domestic assault.
Joseph Perkins, 36, was identified as the suspect; however, he left the scene prior to the deputies' arrival.
While deputies were obtaining warrants for the arrest of Perkins, they were sent back to the residence at approximately 5:45 a.m. to investigate a reported shooting.
The occupant of the residence told deputies that Perkins returned to her residence and attacked her.
She said that during the altercation with Perkins, he was stabbed and shot. Perkins fled the residence on foot prior to the deputies' arrival and later emerged from a nearby wooded area and lay in the street.
Perkins was transported to a local hospital by Hamilton County EMS where he is being treated for his injuries. Deputies are told that Perkins’ injuries are not considered life threatening.
The facts surrounding the second altercation are under investigation.
