HCDE Administration And The County School Budget - And Response

  • Wednesday, April 27, 2016

It is pleasing to see the appointment of Jill Levine to a position of significance in the administration office.

Would it be presumptive to ask what reductions were made to accommodate this financially?Have other central office staffers been demoted or let go?

I doubt that classrooms can suffer further budget reductions.

I taught at the high school in Paris, Ky. and the school's celebrated football team's coach was rewarded by the community with a new bass boat, trailer and motor. Celebrating his many victories over the years the school board and administration saw fit to promote him from football coach to high school principal.

Schools today rarely shy away from tradition. The successful school principal is usually the one in the town where the most affluent live. Why not say their reasoning?  Kirk Kelly's bold leadership appointing her to a newly created position is not far from the bass boat gift.

What is really going to change ? That is the question that will require leadership absent from what is HCDE's central office.
