Jean Taliaferro Breeden, 86, of Varnell, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Reflections at Tranquility of Dalton.
Jean was born March 24, 1930 in Chattanooga to the late John Taliaferro and Pearl Hudson Taliaferro. She was a graduate of Varnell High School and later attended Dalton Junior College. In 1947, Jean married her high school sweetheart, Albert Breeden. They were blessed to have two daughters while living in Dalton and after moving in 1955 to Tullahoma, they welcomed their third daughter. While in Tullahoma, Jean was a member of Tullahoma First Methodist Church and was active in PTA, Girl Scouts and garden club. In 1966 the Breedens returned to Varnell and joined Varnell Methodist Church. Jean enjoyed working as a truck dispatcher for a local carpet mill, volunteered with the Whitfield-Murray Historical Society and later owned a plumbing supply store in Cleveland, Tennessee. When Albert and Jean retired and moved to Inverness, FL, she loved searching for treasures at the flea markets throughout central Florida. In 1999 the Breedens returned to Dalton. Jean never met a stranger. She will always be remembered as the greeter at Rosewood Assisted Living in Fort Oglethorpe and as a singer and whistler at Tranquility in Dalton. Jean will mostly be remembered as an amazing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Breeden is preceded in death by her parents, John and Pearl Taliaferro; her sisters, Dorothy Alexander and Virginia Dycus; and her loving husband, Albert Breeden.
