Sammy Deaon Phillips, 71, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, died on Friday, April 29, 2016.
A native of Calhoun, Ga., he had lived in the Catoosa County area for the past 40 years. Sammy was self-employed for the past 25 years doing pressure washing and was a member of Nellie Head Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, DeForest and Jeanelle Thomas Phillips; three brothers, Larry, Terry and Gary Phillips; in-laws, James A. and Betty “Honey” Land; and nephew, Cliff Land.
He is survived by his loving wife, Denise Land Phillips of Tunnel Hill; three children, Tracy Thacker (Jeff) of Adairsville, Ga., Keith Phillips (Cindy) of Calhoun, Ga., and Kelly Gentry (Cary) of Summerville, Ga.; sister, Sandra Phillips Betts (Jon) of Cullman, Al.; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday May 3, at Pine Chapel Methodist Church with Reverend Eddie Brannon and Reverend Billy Thomas officiating.
He will lie in state at the church from 1-2 p.m. Interment will follow at Pine Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
