Swafford, Edwin "Ed" Clay (Cleveland)

Edwin “Ed” Clay Swafford, 73, of Cleveland, Tenessee, passed away Thursday, April 28 in a Chattanooga hospital.

Ed was the son of the late Lula Thomas Swafford and Isom Swafford; and was also preceded in death by his son, Ronald Swafford; his sister, Fannie Ryan; and his brothers, James Swafford, Robert Swafford and Charles Swafford.

Ed was retired from Magic Chef with over 25 years of service. He also worked for York-Miller Flooring with over 10 years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors including hunting and fishing. He would participate with friends in many Bass Tournaments. Ed was a member of the Parkway Baptist Church where he was very active. He has served as Deacon since 1971 and was Sunday School Director for more than 30 years. 

Survivors include his wife, Glenda Sue Boring Swafford of Cleveland; his daughter, Debbie Ann Davis and her husband Steve; his son, Richard Swafford; his granddaughter, Kristin Rebecca Davis, all of Cleveland; his sisters, Bonnie Ash of Georgia, Mary Austin of Cleveland and Elenore Leatherwood and her husband Roy of Ooltewah; his twin brother, Edgar Swafford and his wife Lorene of McDonald; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Sunday, May 1, at 2 p.m. from the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Chapel with Reverend Shane Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as casket bearers.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, April 30 at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Chapel who has charge of the arrangements
