Arsonists Again Strike At Historic Barn On Harrison Pike

For the second time in about a week, Chattanooga firefighters responded to 2882 Harrison Pike to extinguish a barn fire.

The first fire involving the historic barn on was last Friday morning. The fire caused substantial damage to the structure before the firefighters could get the blaze under control.

The second fire occurred around 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The firefighters put the fire out quickly.

No injuries were reported in either fire.

Captain Henry McElvain with the Fire Investigation Division said both fires appear to have been intentionally set. Anyone with any information about these fires or who may have started them is urged to call the Fire Investigation Division at (423) 643-5600.
 
The old dairy barn that was operated by the Sterchi family is located on city property at the South Chickamauga Creek Greenway.
