Cleveland State Professor Honored With Excellence In Leadership Award

Dr. Megen Saez, CSCC Associate Professor of Computer and Information Systems / Business Department Chair, was honored with the Gary C. Filan Excellence in Leadership Award through The Chair Academy.

The Chair Academy is an internationally recognized organization whose mission is focused on designing and conducting world-class leadership training and development programs to advance academic and administrative leadership for post-secondary organizations world-wide.

Named after the founding executive director, the prestigious Gary C. Filan Excellence in Leadership Award is provided annually to those who demonstrate the future of leadership development wihin their field. Recipients of this award are those who have proven success to expand post-secondary education with emerging changes for organizational leadership in the 21st Century, while demonstrating excellence in leadership.

Dr. Saez stated, “I feel very honored to be chosen among the nominees and be recognized for the work that it takes to maintain leading in higher education. However, it’s not simply an isolated effort; I work with a great team of people and students who make those efforts enjoyable.”

The Chair Academic experience is a year-long comprehensive development program that will challenge participants to confront unique aspects of leadership in the higher education environment,” stated Dr. Denise King, Vice President for Academic Affairs. “We are proud that Dr. Saez has been selected to participate through this award. Her leadership skills as Chair of the Business Department are strong now, and will be further strengthened by this experience. I can't wait to see her impact for Cleveland State in the future.”

“I became involved in The Chair Academy last year, and what I love the most is being able to broaden my scope of understanding what other colleges and universities are doing in leadership and in general practices for their students,” stated Dr. Saez. “I have met some amazing people and enjoy being a part of this organization that focuses on leadership in higher education. They create mentorships for members that cultivate strengths and allow you to establish these relationships that support what you do and love in higher ed. It’s truly great to have that support system from people all over the world.”
