Ooltewah's Owls Nest BBQ Place 6th In Calhoun, Ga. BBQ Contest

The Owls Nest Competition BBQ Team from Ooltewah placed sixth overall in the BBQ Boogie and Blues BBQ Contest held Friday and Saturday in Calhoun, Ga.

     Team pitmasters Steve Ray and Dan Griess placed seventh in chicken, sixth in pork ribs, ninth in pork butt and 11th in ribs. 

     The competition was won by J and B BBQ from Atlanta.

     Pitmaster Steve Ray said the team will be appearing at the Taste of Ooltewah/Harrison on May 15 at Cambridge Square in Ooltewah.

     "We will be giving away samples and selling our famous Smoky Owl Hot Dogs at The Taste and we also will be selling a new item that we will be unveiling at the event," Mr.
Ray said.

     "I promise it will be the hit of The Taste."

     Owls Nest BBQ will be competing next in Rome, Ga. at the Flames on the Flint BBQ Contest May 13-14, then at the National BBQ Cup in Nashville at Titans Stadium.

     The team will also be competing locally June 3 at the Red Bank BBQ contest.
 
Team member Dan Griess is the manager of all Crye-Leike Real Estate concerns in the Chattanooga area and Steve Ray owns and manages the Midnite Oil Service Station in Ooltewah.
