Mocs Softball Drops Third Game To UNCG

The Chattanooga Mocs softball team fell 9-7 to UNCG, wrapping up the series in Greensboro, N.C., despite hitting three home runs. UTC is 27-25 and 6-9 in Southern Conference play.

With two outs in the top of the first, senior Criket Blanco hit a home run to give the Mocs the first lead.

The Spartans scored four runs each in the third and fourth innings to go up 8-1.

Blanco knocked out a three-run homer in the top of the fifth, decreasing the Spartans lead to 8-5.

In the bottom of the fifth, UNCG's Lindsay Thomas hit a home run to left field.
         

Freshman Amanda Beltran blasted the Mocs' third homer of the day, bringing senior Anyssa Robles home.

Blanco finished the game with a team-best four RBI, while tallying three hits along with Beltran.

Senior Amanda Ross led the squad with five putouts. Senior Sam Taylor and freshman Katie Corum followed with four.

Chattanooga returns home to wrap up regular season play against ETSU in Frost Stadium. A lone game is Saturday, May 7 at 6:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) with a doubleheader Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Tickets for individual games in Frost Stadium are $5 for adults and $3 for youth. UTC students are admitted free with a valid Mocs Card.
