Scenic City Chorale Has Spring Concert May 22

The Scenic City Chorale will present its annual Spring Concert on Sunday, May 22, 3 p.m. at Brainerd United Methodist Church, 4315 Brainerd Road. 

The musical theme, evidenced throughout the entire program is I Will Sing With The Spirit, and includes selections from several musical genre: spiritual, opera, Broadway, pop, folk, patriotic. Composers and arrangers of note in this special seasonal concert are: Herbert Howells, Giuseppe Verdi, John Rutter, Lerner and Loewe, Eric Nelson and others. 

Some of the titles include: Praise to the Lord, I Will Sing With the Spirit, O Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem, Chorus of Hebrew Slaves, Keep Your Lamps, On Jordan's Stormy Banks, My Fair Lady Selections, Lida Rose from Music Man, Italian Street Song, Aquarius, Let the Sunshine In, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms, America the Beautiful. The women of the Chorale will sing Three Hungarian Folk Songs by Seiber and the men will sing Bound for Jubilee by Elaine Eilers. 

Accompanists for the concert are Jim Martin and Freda Hart. Vocal and instrumental soloists are Sarah Glenn, Nancy Teague, Gene Wolfe. Instrumental accompaniments: piano, organ, percussion, flute and 'cello. The Musical Director for Scenic City Chorale is Ron Starnes. Associate Director is Louise Stephens. Mr. Leighton LeBoeuf will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the concert. 

The concert is free to the public, but donations are accepted. The 60-voice Chorale is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization that presents concerts around the Chattanooga area throughout the year.
