Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Chief Markus Fritts rescued a 69-year-old woman from her burning home on Saturday morning.
Chief Fritts, who lives a couple of houses down the street, was driving by and saw heavy black smoke coming from his neighbor's home around 10 a.m.
Chief Fritts immediately called dispatch reporting a house fire at 1500 N. Winer Dr. in the High Ridge Subdivision.
He and Hamilton County Sheriff's Office personnel, who were the first units on the scene, found the burn victim in her bedroom surrounded by heavy smoke and fire. They carried her out of the house.
Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire in the bedroom.
The woman sustained critical injuries and was transported to Erlanger Hospital by Hamilton County EMS.
Fire officials reported $20,000 in damages.
Chief Fritts reported the fire started in the bedroom, but the cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
