Contemporary Art Gallery Opens On The Southside

  • Monday, May 16, 2016
Pamela Henry, a veteran art dealer with more than 30 years of experience and former owner of two galleries in Miami, Fl., who now lives in Chattanooga, is opening an exhibition space in her adopted hometown.  Offering both high end works for the seasoned collector, and price conscious selections for the emerging art buyer, Ms. Henry’s intention is to inform the next generation of collectors and showcase work that spans the spectrum from emerging and established artists.

Works…a Gallery, her latest project on the Southside of Chattanooga, is located in the Cypress Corners community, just north of Sculpture Fields at Montague Park.
The gallery is located on the second floor of the compound where she and her sculptor husband, John Henry, make their home and his studio.

"I thought I was in New York at a gallery opening,” said Tony Mines, owner of Art Creations, when he visited last week. “The space looks so much like many of the galleries in SoHo a few years back. The open space is perfect to show modern art, but most important is the high quality of art being offered - a plus for Chattanooga."

Officials said Ms. Henry brings a curated perspective on the visual arts to the community, featuring such artists as:  Mark diSuvero, John Henry, Heinz Aeschlimann, Bruce Beasley, Jane Manus, Busser Howell, Terry Karpowicz, Carl Billingsley, Chakaia Booker, Patty Carroll, John Clement, Douglas Craft, Jae Hahn, Katherine Henry, Linda Howard, Gary Kulak, Peter Lundberg, Joel Perlman, Hartmut Stielow, Stretch, and Klaus Albert, as well as local artists; Maria Cardillo, Charles Pfistzer, and Michael Cardillo.

"It's great to have another art gallery open its doors in Chattanooga,” said Ellen Simak, former curator for the Hunter Museum of American Art. “Works... a Gallery offers a selection of high caliber work in a beautiful loft setting.  Definitely worth a visit."

Works…a Gallery is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, or by appointment. For appointments or more information, call Pamela Henry at 305-794-8655.
