Big Frog Brewing Company Expanding Operations In Red Bank

  • Tuesday, May 17, 2016

Big Frog Brewing Company opened in Red Bank about a year and a half ago as a manufacturer and wholesale distributor of craft beer. Until now, sales have been to various restaurants and bars around town. The business is now ready to expand. The owner has applied for a serving and retail sales beer license for which he was approved, at the Red Bank Commission meeting Tuesday night.

This will permit a tasting room for samples and the sale of growlers.

Samples served in-house will be sold in flights and all retail sales will be on draft for off-premise consumption. A kitchen is being put in as the building is being renovated and, in the future, food may be served. The goal is to open the tasting room before July 4. The business is located at 2122 Dayton Blvd.

City Attorney Arnold Stulce told the commissioners and those attending the meeting that each year real property is sold for non-payment of property taxes when they have not been paid in four years. More than half of these are reclaimed by the owner during the year following the sale, he said. Some are sold to third parties and some are not redeemed and are reclaimed by the county and the municipality where they are located. Of those, many are small, landlocked or irregularly shaped and no one submits bids on them.

Periodically, the ones that are not bought are cleared out by selling them for less than the taxes that are owed. This is done in order to get them back on the tax rolls. This year, three such properties were in Red Bank, and Tuesday night, the commissioners approved a resolution authorizing Mayor John Roberts to sign quitclaim deeds pertaining to those parcels that were sold in Hamilton County’s 2016 property sale.
