The Biloxi Shuckers scored seven runs over the first three innings on their way to the 9-7 win over the Chattanooga Lookouts at AT&T Field.
Biloxi's offense started the game on fire, loading the bases with zero outs. The first run of the game came on a Garrett Cooper groundout. Two more followed on a Nick Ramirez two-run single.
The bases became loaded again and the fourth run scored on a hit-by-pitch.
The visiting team continued to pile up runs in the subsequent innings, scoring on a two-run homer by Jacob Nottingham in the second and a solo shot by Chris McFarland in the third.
The early runs put Chattanooga in a hole, but their offense put up a fight. A leadoff triple by Zack Granite led to the team's first run of the night as he scored on a Daniel Palka grounder.
In the second they cut the deficit to two runs on a Levi Michael RBI and a two-run single by Granite. The fifth run came in the third on a Joe Maloney double.
Leading by two the Shuckers put the game away in the seventh by scoring two runs off of Luke Westphal.
Chattanooga scored a run in the eighth and one in the ninth, but could not overtake Biloxi.
Starting pitcher Aaron Slegers took the loss, but the bullpen combined to only allow two earned runs in five innings.
Tyler Spurlin got the win for Biloxi while Stephen Kohlscheen earned the save.
The final game of the series is at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, with gates opening at 9:30 a.m.
