"Millennials Planning for Success by Confidently Conquering Challenges" was the topic for the High School Senior Recognition Program, sponsored by the Chattanooga Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority on May 1.

The speakers for the event were Alyxandria Henry, a Tennessee State University student who was the first recipient of the Evelyn Robinson Hardin Scholarship and Bradley Bell, the assistant director of New Student and Family Programs at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga.  After being given success strategies to continue conquering challenges for their upcoming college years, 123 graduating high school seniors, representing 15 public and private schools received achievement certificates for their accomplishments in academics, athletics, leadership, public service, fine arts, technology and vocational education.

The Mamie Bullard Award was also presented to Brainerd High School student Joseph Woods.

The Chattanooga Alumnae Chapter also awarded over $10,000 to the 2016 scholarship/legacy recipients. The featured high school graduates will be attending a college or university in the fall. These young scholars are high achieving, academically advanced and actively involved in their school and/or community, officials said.

The 2016 recipients are: Kianna Cooper, Vinceia Crittenden, Kaylx Davis, Destiny Hannon, Abby Hubert, Aikera James, Rauelle Kelly, Makayla Martin, Gabrielle McDonald, Miya Montgomery, Jazlyn Norman, Sydnee Ruff, Kierstin Taylor-Garrett, and Amaicia Thompson.
