James Darrell “Doe” Works, 55, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away Friday May 20, 2016 at a local health care facility.
Doe worked at Coca-Cola for over 16 years. He enjoyed singing gospel music and dirt track racing. He worked at Cleveland Speedway for 20 years, and loved playing golf.
Doe was preceeded in death by his mother, Jeanette Works; grandparents, J.C. Rogers and Cordelia Jane, and James Russell and Violet Works; one brother, Cletus Floyd' and one sister, Joyce Floyd.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Julie Caldwell Works; one daughter, Brandi (Travis) Hipps; one adopted daughter, April Reeder; one granddaughter, Eliza Welch “Baby Girl”; father and step-mother, Bill and Geraldine Works; brother and sister, Doug (Kim) Works and Tressia (Roy) Totherow; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday May 23, in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2415 Georgetown Road NW Cleveland, TN 37311 with Pastor John Bivens and Pastor Chuck Defriese officiating. A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Monday after the service. Tanner Works, Heath Works, Tommy Caldwell, Michael White, Steve Worley, and Jack Arnett will serve at pallbearers.
