Georgia Mae Pankey, 78, of Dayton, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Erlanger Hospital.
Georgia Mae, as she was affectionately known, was born Dec. 15, 1937 in Dayton to the late LaTnabell (Rogers) and Clifford Brown; and was also preceded in death by her husband, James Herman Pankey; and her grandson, Dustin Garmany.
She lived in Dayton all of her life and was a graduate of Carver High School in Dayton. Georgia Mae worked both at Dayton City School and Rhea Floral & Gift Shoppe for numerous years. She enjoyed puzzle books and was a collector of everything. Georgia Mae was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Dayton, TN.
She is survived by her daughter, Vanity (Adell) White; her sons, Jamie (Jennifer) Pankey, James (Crystal) Garmany, all of Dayton, TN, Phillip (Janice) Pankey of Nashville, TN and Steven (Keesha) Johnson of Chattanooga; grandchildren: Anthony Dalton, Michelle Dalton, Jadden Pankey, Chasity Swafford, Alexandria Pankey, Jacob Ray, Denisha Swafford, Justin Swafford, Kevin Sharp and Elijah Pankey; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
Funeral services for Georgia Mae will be held Wednesday, May 25 at 5 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
She will be laid to rest in Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga on Thursday, May 26 at ll:30 a.m
The family is being cared for by the Vanderwall Funeral Home.
