Nick Wilkinson, Democratic candidate for Tennessee’s 10th Senate District, attended the fifth in a series of statewide meetings organized by the “3-Star Healthy Project” Task Force.
“This morning I heard from doctors, business owners, community leaders, hospital staff, and those who can not access affordable health care and the message was loud and clear - our state is facing a crisis by leaving 280,000 people without health care,” said Mr.
Wilkinson. “Today it is evident that our elected officials have a choice to make - should they take action to grow our local economy, build stronger families, and provide opportunities for people in our state or should they play it safe during an election year and continue to say no.”
“The people in the 10th District are tired of waiting, they're tired of talking, and they're tired of their elected leaders dismissing their concerns. I’m running to represent them in the State Senate so that they have a leader in Nashville that they can count on to get things done, like pass commonsense legislation like Insure TN. I work every day to help businesses in Chattanooga succeed and every business owner I've talked to understands one thing - healthy workers are good for business. Not only do we gain the benefits of a good workforce by giving access to health care to the uninsured, but we also will grow our economy. Through increased medical spending we could bring over 15,000 jobs and add an additional $1 billion to our state’s economy. This is money that is going to the majority of other states, and we continue to miss out because of the inaction and imbalance in Nashville.”
“Our current senator was absent at today’s meeting and continues to ignore the concerns of the people” said Mr. Wilkinson. “The 10th district deserves better and I have the experience and the compassion to fight for them in Nashville.”
