Shannon Whitfield Wins Republican Nomination For Walker County Sole Commissioner

Shannon Whitfield defeated Mike Peardon on Tuesday in the race for the Republican nominee for Walker County sole commissioner.

Mr. Whitfield, who is president of Whitfield Oil won by a margin of 4,456 to 1,473.

Both local businessmen announced prior to the first of the year that they would seek the post.

Bebe Heiskell, the incumbent, says she will run as an Independent in the general election. She had previously run as a Republican.

For a school board seat, incumbent P.J. Hunter defeated C. Eady 2,800 to 1,982.

Former Trion mayor Lanny Thomas lost to state Senator Jeff Mullis in Walker County 3,534 to 2,408.
