Former University of Tennessee at Chattanooga defensive lineman Derrick Lott signed a free-agent contract with the Philadelphia Eagles this week. Lott is a 2014 graduate of UTC and spent last season on the practice squad with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Lott transferred to Chattanooga from Georgia prior to the start of the 2012 season. He earned second team All-SoCon honors after recording 57 tackles that season. In 2013, he was sidelined early with an elbow injury and granted a sixth year of eligibility in 2014.
He finished his career in 2014 and was second in the SoCon with 6.0 sacks.
He earned first team All-SoCon recognition and went on to participate in the NFL Combine, along with teammate Davis Tull, and took part in the East-West Shrine game.
Lott is one of four former Mocs currently on an NFL roster. Tull is with the New Orleans Saints, who drafted him in the fifth round in 2015. Chris Lewis-Harris (2011) has played in 19 games over the last four years with the Cincinnati Bengals. Buster Skrine (2010) is a projected starter in the secondary for the New York Jets.
