George Paul Baird, 87, of Summerville, Georgia, died on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at his residence.

Mr. Baird was born September 10, 1928, in the Fisher Community of Crookston, MN, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George P. Baird, Sr.  He was a member of the Trion United Methodist Church and was retired from the United States Navy, having served for 37 years.  He was also the owner and operator of his own metal fabrication shops in Winder, GA and Marietta, GA. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Buie; and a son, Wayne T. Baird.

Mr. Baird is survived by his wife, Anna Lee Jackson Baird; a son, Paul Baird III; a sister, Mary Ann Kosnick; 6 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Baird will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, at the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Art Graves officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Mark Henderson, Jonathan Henderson, Phillip Wells, Travis Swinford, Robert Buie, and John Adams.

Mr. Baird will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 27.
