Baylor athletes have been playing tennis for more than a century and have won state team titles and state, national and world champions on the individual side.
The rich tradition could continue today as the Baylor Girls go for a sixth straight championship and the boys look for their first title since 1997 and 16th overall.
Tuesday’s State Semis: Chattanooga brought seven team to Spring Fling XXIII, but the two Baylor teams were the only winners.
D-II AA Girls: Baylor (14-0) meets Hutchison today at 10 a.m. EDT for the title. In the semis, Baylor beat Harpeth Hall, 4-0 and Hutchison edged GPS, 4-3.
D-II AA Boys: Baylor (10-4) faces defending champion MUS at 12:30 p.m. EDT. In the semis, Baylor stopped McCallie, 4-0, and MU defeated MBA, 4-2. Baylor beat MUS, 5-4, in the DecoTurf tourney in March and MUS defeated Baylor in last year’s state finals.
