Silvis, Il. – Dalton State (299-313-295 = 907) is tied with South Carolina Beaufort (301-308-298 = 907) for 13th after completion of the third round of the NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship tournament at the 7,066 yards, Par-71 TPC at Deere Run course.

The Roadrunners’ 18-hole Thursday round of 295 was the team’s best play of the 72-hole tournament and it was needed in order to make the 17-team cut for Friday’s final day.

Levi Nix led the way for Dalton State with a two-under-par 69.  Sean Elliott posted a 74 and Chase Jones a 75.  Dalton Johnson and Austin Hughes each tallied a 77.

“The guys did a better job today of taking advantage of the good shots,” said DS Coach Ben Rickett. “Levi had a great bounce back after a rough opening couple of days. Hopefully we can post a good number to end the season and enjoy the last day with my seniors and the rest of the guys.”

British Columbia (299-289-283 = 871) was tied with the Roadrunners after the opening round. The Thunderbirds now lead the pack going into the final day.

Oklahoma State (292-297-289 = 878) is second with William Woods (284-301-298 = 883) in third.

The remainder of the Top 10 are Oregon Tech (301-300-283 = 884), Johnson & Wales (FL.) 298-292-301 = 891), Wayland Baptist (TX.) (294-299-299 = 892), Texas Wesleyan (298-303-293 = 894), Keiser University (FL.) (305-303-278 = 897), Victoria (BC) (299-292-308 = 899), and the University of the Cumberlands (KY.) (295-308-301 = 904).

Grand View University (307-301-297 = 905) is now 11th followed by Cardinal Stritch University (306-299-301 = 906). The Roadrunners and South Carolina Beaufort are one stroke out of 12th. Webber International (312-286-310 = 908) and Oklahoma Wesleyan (301-319-288 = 908) are tied for 15th.

Two-time defending national champions Coastal Georgia (311-301-297 = 909) just made the cut. The Mariners edged out Reinhardt (GA.) (313-298-299 = 910) for the final spot. 

There is currently a three-way tie for individual medalist between David Ravetto of Texas Wesleyan, Lawren Rowe of Victoria (BC), and Matthew Cheung of Oklahoma City who each have a 54-hole score of 213.
