The Hamilton County Emergency Services (HCES) Fire Training Division held its annual Firefighter 1 graduation ceremony Thursday night at the Middle Valley Church of God.

Highway 58 VFD firefighter, Shane Daughetee, lost his life in 2007 battling a house fire. In remembrance of Shane, HCES established the Shane Daughetee Award, which is given to a fire cadet who demonstrated leadership, dedication and a positive attitude just like Mr. Daughetee did during his year in the Firefighter 1 class in 2001.

The 2016 Shane Daughetee Award was given to Seth Hutcheson from Soddy Daisy Fire Department.
