The groundbreaking of Chattanooga’s Miracle Field, Wednesday, at Warner Park was a special day in the lives of many Chattanoogans. The Miracle League of Chattanooga is dedicated to “promoting the health and well-being of individuals with disabilities while educating the public and promoting a greater understanding of matters concerning individuals with disabilities”.
At the groundbreaking Janet Dunn, president and CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga, announced that the program will be managed and run by the YMCA and Ben Brant has been brought on by the YMCA to be the director of The Miracle League of Chattanooga.
"The baseball field will be designed solely around allowing those with disabilities to enjoy the game of baseball, the thrill of competition and the excitement of teamwork.
It will be a place where participants, volunteers and spectators can experience the joy and fulfillment of watching the children hit grounders and smile as they go around the bases," officials said.
The field will be completed this fall with a full slate of games set to start shortly thereafter.
