Frances Hayes
Frances F. Fulghum Edwards Hayes, 82, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, died on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at her home.
She was born April 3, 1934, in Trenton, to the late Herman W. and Mattie Harp Fulghum. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald K. Hayes, sisters, Grace Sims and Gladys Brown, and brother, William Edwards Fulghum.
She attended Dade High School in Trenton. She was retired form Erlanger Medical Center after 36 years of service.
She accepted Christ as her savior at an early age. She moved to Chattanooga, where she married the love of her life, Donald K. Hayes. They were married for 56 years.
She was a long time member of Lupton Drive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Daniel A Edwards, one granddaughter, Cheryl Femrite; great-grandson, Thomas Morris III; great-granddaughters, Sade’ Edwards and Cheyenne Seifert; a very dedicated friend for over 60 years, Etta Myers; one sister-in-law, Lorene Sample; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
She was the big sister to Shelia M. Shropshire Horton who became a very good friend and very dedicated caregiver and also Melissa Carrillo and Tara Wright.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 31, at 11:30 a.m. in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, May 30.
