Donald F. Simpson, of Hixson, died on Friday, May 27, 2016. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond R. Simpson; his mother, Bonnie G. Simpson and a brother, Rudy Simpson. 

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Wooten Simpson; children, Donna Suzanne Simpson, Robert Lindsey Simpson and Shannon Dianne Simpson (Mark) DeFriese; as well as four adored grandchildren, Jamie Simpson, Robin Simpson, MacKenzie DeFriese, Madison DeFriese and many nieces and nephews. 

Don was an avid golfer and a stand-out athlete as captain of both the basketball team and baseball team in his senior year at City High School. He coached his children for several years in the East Brainerd Youth Association, was the first coach to allow every boy on his team to play in every game without regard to whether the game would be won or lost. In his career as an International Freight Forwarder, he traveled the world. He and Sylvia traveled extensively in the U.S. and internationally and experienced amazing things together. Among other organizations, he was a founding member and past president of the Chattanooga World Trade Council; a member of Burks United Methodist Church and Valleybrook Golf and Country Club.

According to Don’s wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date.
