Mary Temple Bryan Shipley, 86, of Chattanooga, died on May 27, 2016, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville surrounded by family.
Born in Cleveland, on June 21, 1929, she was the daughter of Lester E. Bryan and Mary Temple McMurray Bryan. She graduated from Bradley Central High School in 1947. She married Floyd Shipley, Jr. on July 12, 1947. She was a homemaker most of her life and enjoyed her children, grandchildren, friends and cats. She also did volunteer work and was a gallon plus blood donor at Blood Assurance. She was employed at Collection Service Agency for many years. She was a member of St. John United Methodist Church and former active member of East Chattanooga United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 63 years.
Surviving are her daughters, Mary Pamela (Victor) Hood, of Franklin, TN, and Susan Diane (Thomas) Flaherty, of Waterford, NY; four grandchildren, Leigh Ann (Patrick) Parrish, of Bon Aqua, TN, Susan Christina (Kevin) Davis of Centerville, TN, Amanda Michelle Hood, of Bon Aqua, TN, and Thomas Joseph Flaherty, IV, of Waterford, NY; six great-grandchildren, Weston, Savanna and Mollie Davis, Gavin and Mary Elizabeth Parrish, and Benson Paul Hood; sister, Rebecca Ann Harrison; sister-in-law, Barbara Ellen Danielson; a niece and two nephews; several cousins; and her beloved cat, Miss Priss.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend E. J. Varner officiating. Interment will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, and 11-12:30 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday, June 1, at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 East Brainerd Road.
