Nellie Mae Davis Westmoreland, 92, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee died on Monday, May 2, 2016, in a Chattanooga health care center.
A native of Jackson County, Al., she was the daughter of the late John D. and Zelpha Marie Justice Davis, and a member of the Richard City Baptist Church. She worked for 22 years as a creeler with Pittsburg Knitting Mills and for over five years at the Kids Bank Learning Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Vivian Wilson and two brothers, John Davis and I. J. Davis.
She is survived by two daughters, Darlene (Melvin) Stakely of Chattanooga, and Pearl Marie (Mike) Layne of Jasper, TN; two grandchildren, James Nicholas King and Kristy Marie (Jason) Barnhill; brother, Charles Davis of Hammond, Indiana; several nieces and nephews. We would like to give special thanks to her niece and caregiver, Helen Morton.
Funeral services will be conducted at the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Central time on Friday, May 6, with Reverend R. Wayne Bowman officiating. Interment will be in Cumberland View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, May 5, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
