Richard Dean
Richard Eugene Dean, 82, of Chattanooga, died on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, after an extended illness.
He was born April 22, 1934, in Princeton, Il., to the late Hiram E. and Daisy B. Dean.
Mr. Dean was a United States Navy veteran and was retired from Rockford Products after 36 years of service.
He was a member of Silverdale Baptist Church where he served as a deacon as well as a Sunday school teacher for the Alvin Stephenson Sunday School Class.
His wife of 56 years, Irene Betty Dean, brother, Paul Dean, and sister, Martha Hartzheim preceded him in death.
Survivors include his sons, Jeff (Vinn) Dean of Apison and Greg (Maria) Dean of Rockford, Illinois; and grandchildren, Megan (Carter) Whittier of Ooltewah, Jackie (Michael) Curry of Apison, and Daniel Dean of Apison.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 5, from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. in the East Brainerd Chapel with Reverend Chuck Tanner and Reverend Vikki Waters officiating.
Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
Active pallbearers will be Carter Whittier, Michael Curry, Daniel Dean, Richard Waters, Larry Mileur, and Wendell Schultz.
Members of the Alvin Stephenson Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
