The Blue Dolphin
The Blue Dolphin Award is a prestigious award of the highest order, presented to the person deemed worthy by the Executive Director of Friends Of The Festival, Chip Baker. Those that have received the award in the past were all outstanding, having done something special to deserve it. In the past, as I watched the presentations, I must admit to being somewhat jealous, although I also felt that the recipient had certainly earned the right to display the Blue Dolphin proudly upon his/her desk.
Imagine my surprise at Tuesday’s weekly staff meeting when Chip Baker made the presentation to me! That’s right, the Blue Dolphin currently resides on my desk, for the whole world to see and admire.
I won’t bother you with the details of what it took to earn it this week, but I can promise that I will represent the Blue Dolphin in the professional manner for which it deserves. We don’t really give speeches when receiving the award, but I would like to thank my family, co-workers, and especially my boss, Joe Dixie Fuller. In the unlikely event that I cannot fulfill my obligations as winner of the Blue Dolphin award, I would like Dixie to step up and carry the load.
Bob Payne, Blue Dolphin Award winner for May 3, 2016. That has a nice ring to it.
