James Robin Roddy
James Robin Roddy, 39, was arrested Tuesday night on multiple charges, stemming from Monday’s events including burglary, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and evading arrest. Working on an anonymous tip, Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputies located and apprehended Roddy at 9923 Carey Lane. He was taken into custody and was being transported to the Hamilton County Jail.
He will be booked and is facing numerous charges.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., a man coming out of the Country Side Restaurant at 8223 Mahan Gap Road, returned to his vehicle to find that it had been broken into with Roddy fleeing the area.
The victim followed Roddy until he lost sight of the vehicle.
The victim then found the suspect’s vehicle parked at the Highway 58 Mart where he approached Roddy. At that point, a physical altercation took place and Roddy backed his truck in reverse striking three pedestrians, including the victim and his wife, in an attempt to get away. The injured parties were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.
Roddy then traveled south on Highway 58 where his truck struck several vehicles, leaving the scene of each accident. HCSO deputies then located Roddy on Mahan Gap Road and a short pursuit ensued. In an attempt to elude deputies, Roddy drove through several yards where he eventually exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
Deputies on scene recovered over $8,000 worth of tools which had been stolen by Roddy at the initial incident.
