Re: Roy Exum: Teachers Day Tomorrow
Roy,
I am especially appreciative of your poignant column written in tribute to teachers. It made me tear up, as I have encountered both as a student and a career educator-- teachers like the second-grade teacher who said, "I wish you were my little girl" and teachers like Mrs. Poindexter.
My teachers have played such a vital role in who I am today. I wouldn't be a teacher if it weren't for some who inspired me to excel, who loved me sometimes as though I were their son, who mentored me when I didn't achieve to my potential, and who told me that I could be whoever I wanted to be.
The bond that I had with my teachers remains with me today, and I shall never forget my truly wonderful teachers whom I will always cherish and love. I am a teacher because of them.
