Medford, David Allen (Cleveland)

  • Friday, May 6, 2016

David Allen Medford, 57, of Cleveland, Tennessee, died on Wednesday, May 4, 2016.

He was born in Lakeland, FL and moved soon after to his lifelong home of Cleveland, TN. He loved life and the adventures that he met through his journey on this earth. He was a graduate of Cleveland High School, though spent many of his school years at the Cleveland Day School. He completed his major in Finance at Tennessee Technical College in Cookeville, TN and based his Financial Planning business in his hometown of Cleveland. His financial certifications include; Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor, Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant and Investment Advisor Representative. While he grew up at North Cleveland Church of God, and had membership, he attended Westmore Church of God for many years. He believed that our Christian journey was beyond church and denomination constraints. David achieved many accomplishments throughout his life, including personal and professional. But he counted relationships as his greatest of those. He loved the outdoors. It sometimes seemed it just wasn’t large enough for him, as he loved to explore and commune with nature. He loved his animals and found joy in even the basic care and tending that these bonds required. His friends are numerous and he valued each one in a special way. Whether he was in contact weekly or years passed between encounters, he always kept close the memories of how each of you touched him in a special way. He leaves his earthly family and joins with his heavenly ones.

He is survived by his wife, Kay; son, William Medford; mother, Noretta Medford; sister, Deanna Bowden and her husband Todd; nieces and nephews, Bridgit Bowden, Bennett Bowden, Julie and Joe Abrahams; their children Jenny and Jonathan Fratesi; and their children.

A Remembrance of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 7, at 3 p.m. from the Dixon Chapel of North Cleveland Church of God with Pastor Mitch Maloney and Pastor Kelvin Page officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Todd Bowden, Bennett Bowden, Rebel Johnson, Butch Brown, Jackie Carrol, Lindsey Hathcock, Lynn Chesnut, Dudley Pyeatt, III and Bryan Bowen serving as casket bearers.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 6, from 5-8 p.m. at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee St.Chapel and Saturday, May 7 from 1:30-3 p.m. at the church.

His family wishes to express appreciation for all the prayers and words of comfort during this time.
