The Dalton Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that happened in the early morning hours Friday at the Waffle House on West Walnut Avenue. The robber used a gun to hold up the restaurant cashier and escaped with a small quantity of cash.

The robbery happened at approximately 3:10 a.m. when a black male entered the restaurant through the front door as a cashier was washing dishes in preparation for the morning breakfast rush. The suspect was wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood up and a black hat and some type of red bandana covering his face. He wore a black North Face jacket over the hoodie.

The suspect was holding a silver handgun which he pointed at the cashier as he demanded money. The cashier gave the suspect all of the bills in the cash till. The suspect also demanded money from a locked drawer which the cashier could not unlock. The suspect then ran back out of the front door and got into the passenger seat of a white or silver four-door vehicle. A witness told investigators that the driver of the vehicle was possibly a black male and that there could have been two white females in the car with them.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Detective Jacob Burger at 706-278-9085, dial 9 and enter extension 325.
