Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, P.C. announced that it is the first law firm in Chattanooga and the surrounding area to add a full-time Licensed Advanced Practice Social Worker (LAP MSW) to an elder law practice. Amy Boulware joins the firm's estate planning and tax practice as the elder care planning manager, primarily focusing on elder law and special needs.
“Social workers and attorneys are often faced with clients who have needs and issues that intersect, such as care coordination matters and benefits eligibility,” said Dana Perry, estate planning, special needs planning and elder law attorney at Chambliss Law Firm. “Bringing a social worker on to our team will greatly enhance the services Chambliss is able to provide to our clients.”
Ms. Boulware has more than 20 years of experience advocating for and serving elders and their families, serving 14 years as director of social services for the Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga. She also has specific experience in elder care issues, special needs planning, Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance planning, and pre-retirement education.
In addition to being a nationally sought after speaker on issues of aging and disability, Ms. Boulware has spent time teaching at Southern Adventist University’s social work and nursing graduate schools and her work has appeared in national trade publications. She has also served on the Tennessee Governor’s Commission on Aging and is the former President of the State of Tennessee Health Care Social Work Association. She received the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Social Worker of the Year award in 2015 for the Southeast Tennessee Area.
