Sean Elliott and Ben Rickett
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Dalton State’s Sean Elliott has been named a 2016 Second Team Golf All-American by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
“It’s a testament to Sean’s hard work at this sport,” said DS Coach Ben Rickett. Elliott was the 2015 NAIA National Championship low medalist and winner of the NAIA Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer awards. Due to injuries, he had seen limited action this season.
“Sean definitely had his ups and downs this season with regards to his injuries, but evidently did enough to earn this recognition in the events that he has played in,” added Rickett. “I am very proud of him and looking forward to the future in his development.”
The native of Westfield, NJ now calls Powder Springs, Ga. his home.
Elliott is one of only four Southern States Athletic Conference golfers to earn All-American recognition. Dillon Board and Seth Sanders of Coastal Georgia are also on the second team and the Mariner’s Trevor Smith is on the third team.
A total if 45 student-athletes were selected by the NAIA Men’s Gold Coaches’ Association All-American Committee, with 15 individuals named to each of the three teams. The list of NAIA All-Americans is stacked with foreign players that includes 13 of the 15 first team and nine of the 15 second team All-Americans.
The international field of NAIA All-Americans has golfers from England, Canada, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Sweden, Spain, France, Australia, South Africa, Argentina, and Columbia.
