As the 2016 college football preseason publications continue to hit the newsstands, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team continues to pull in more accolades. Junior defensive back Lucas Webb is the latest to garner some national notoriety.
Webb was named to Lindy's 2016 Preseason All-FCS Second Team. He is a two-time first team All-Southern Conference selection with nine career interceptions. He is currently tied for the SoCon career record with three pick-6s, including two in 2015.
A native of Northport, Ala., Webb is also tied with head coach Russ Huesman for ninth on the Mocs' career interception list.
He has played in 27 games over the last two years and is second all-time at UTC with 194 INT return yards.
Webb was joined on Lindy's team by senior offensive lineman Corey Levin and senior defensive lineman Keionta Davis. Chattanooga is one of only two programs in the nation with three on the Lindy's preseason teams.
Both Levin and Davis are first-team picks by most prognosticators. Athlon Sports already had them on its first team, as well as listed among the top NFL prospects at the FCS level. They are both on the recently released Sporting News preseason FCS All-American team.
Lindy's put the Mocs at No. 11 in its preseason top-25, while the Sporting News had UTC at No. 8. Both magazines picked UTC to win the SoCon, while the Sporting News nabbed Levin as the top NFL prospect in the league.
Athlon Sports still has the Mocs highest in the preseason of all the currently released polls. It put UTC atNo. 7 in its FCS preseason listing.
Chattanooga opens the 2016 season on Thursday, Sept. 1, against Shorter. Kickoff is 7:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) at Finley Stadium. Season tickets are on sale now on GoMocs.com, or by calling the UTC Ticket Office at 423-266-MOCS (6627).
