SmartBank Announces Officer Promotions

SmartBank, a subsidiary of SmartFinancial, Inc. has announced officer promotions.  

“Our newest SmartBank promotions are well-deserved due to the talent that these associates reflect,” Barry Watson, regional Chattanooga president, stated. “Their expertise and seasoned experience, continues to be the driving force of SmartBank, as we progressively grow throughout the Chattanooga community.” 

Karen Flores has been named vice president, residential lender. She has over 20 years of experience in the financial industry and received her Bachelor of Science degree in advertising from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Ms. Flores currently serves as a governing board member for the Chattanooga Chapter of the Women’s Council of Realtors and the Home Builders Association of Greater Chattanooga. Ms. Flores’ involvement with the Chattanooga realtor community has led to many recognitions such as the recipient of the Affiliate of the Year and the President’s Award, both award from the Chattanooga Chapter of Women’s Council of Realtors. She and her husband, Michael, have two children and are members of the Christ United Methodist Church.  

Chad Frank has been named vice president, deposit operations. He graduated from UTC with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance. For 13 years, Mr. Frank has progressively been promoted for his achievements; in 2015, he was recognized by Independent Community Bankers of America as the February independent banker of the month. He currently serves alongside both Junior Achievement and the city of Chattanooga CHIPS as a volunteer. In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis, watching football, basketball and UFC fights with friends, and spending time with his wife, Susan, and their two younger sons.  

Susan Phillips has been named vice president, relationship manager. She has served in the local banking community for over 38 years, with a focus on lending for 30 years. Ms. Phillips has taken numerous American Bankers Association courses through Chattanooga State as well as The Southeastern School of Banking. She is currently involved with the Junior Achievement in Chattanooga and the Hixson Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Phillips attends Grace Bible Church with her husband, Kelley Phillips.  

Debbie Baldwin has been promoted to assistant vice president, deposit pperations. She has over 40 years of financial experience from various community and regional banks throughout the area. Ms. Baldwin is also an Accredited ACH Professional, adding to her list of accomplishments in the banking industry. Outside of her professional career, she enjoys spending time with her husband, John, and her daughter, Amanda.  

Susan P. Woodall has been promoted to assistant vice president, loan processing manager. She brings over 30 years of financial experience to her position, making her a viable associate for future successes. Outside of her professional career, Ms. Woodall enjoys spending time with her husband, Gary, and is involved with their church, Bayside Baptist, in Harrison.
