Mary E. Shipley, 87, formerly of Chattanooga, died in Jacksonville, FL on June 18, 2016.

Mary was born in Dade County, on March 19, 1929 to the late Charles and Edith (Warren) Bible. She was extremely active in bowling and softball in Chattanooga. She retired from Gulf Life Insurance in Jacksonville.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Gordon, Raymond, and James Bible, and two sisters, Jane Holmes, and Dot Steele.

Survivors include her son, Steven Shipley and wife, Vickie; grandchildren, Tony and Michael; great-grandchildren, Payton, Joshua, Hannah, and Jessica; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Huff and Elsie Walden.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 23, from 12-2 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Reverend Jim Bennett officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Community Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.

Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
