Jeanette Thomas Clear, 65, of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, after a brief illness.

Jeanette Elizabeth Thomas was born to the late Lizzie Mae Thomas and John Tomasino on Aug. 21, 1950, in New Orleans, La. She graduated from Walter L. Cohen High School, Southern University in New Orleans and Draughons Business College in Memphis. She accepted Christ at an early age.

She met her husband of 47 years, Lee Clear, on a blind date and it was love at first sight. Following Lee's radio career they lived in New York City, Chicago, St Louis, New Orleans, Memphis, Mobile and Tallahassee, Fla. Jeanette followed her passion for children and briefly operated a home day care center and worked in numerous radio stations during their marriage. They moved to Chattanooga in 2006 after purchasing the WNOO radio station. This past April, the couple sealed an agreement to purchase an FM frequency (107.3) to simulcast the programming of WNOO. That station is expected to be on-air and broadcasting this summer.

She is survived by her husband, Lee Clear; a brother, Morris Paul Jr.; four daughters, Tracy Gray (Brian) of Indianapolis, Ind.; Casey Clear (Gerald Webb) of Chattanooga, Brandi Clear of Chattanooga and Tori Clear Thompson (Jason) of Alpharetta, Ga.; and three grandchildren, Crystal, Caitlyn, and John-David. She also leaves a mother-in-law, a host of brothers/sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, June 23, at Olivet Baptist Church with Bishop Kevin Adams and Rev. Dr. Andrew Bullard III officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society in Chattanooga.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 - 8 p.m.  on Wednesday, June 22.
