A man caught selling large amounts of meth from a Cleveland, Tn., motel was sentenced on Thursday to serve 100 months in federal prison.

David Jason Goode appeared before Federal Judge Sandy Mattice in Chattanooga.

On Dec. 11, 2013, an agent from the 10th Judicial Drug Task Force received information from a confidential source that Goode and Barbara Darlene Reeder were distributing significant quantities of crystal methamphetamine from room 118 at the Applegate Motel in Cleveland, where they were both residing.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., agents set up surveillance at the Applegate Motel. They saw Ms. Reeder leave room 118 for a short period of time and retrieve something from her vehicle. At approximately 2:20 p.m., agents observed a man and woman arrive at the motel together and enter Room 118. Approximately five minutes later, the couple exited the room and left in a vehicle.

An agent initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle for a moving violation and discovered that the driver of the vehicle had just purchased approximately 3.5 2 grams of crystal methamphetamine from Goode inside room 118.

A short time later, agents entered room 118 and detained Goode, Gerald Taylor and Ms. Reeder, who were the only occupants.

Agents observed several items of contraband in the room in plain view, including multiple syringes, a plastic bag containing suspected crystal methamphetamine, marijuana cigarettes, two digital scales, and other drug paraphernalia. A black safe was on top of the bed.

Ms. Reeder said there was meth in the safe. It was opened and over 141 grams of crystal meth were inside.

Agents also found approximately 3.5 grams of crystal meth in Ms. Reeder’s purse.

Agents said Goode admitted he sold crystal meth and that he sold some that day from the motel room.

Ms. Reeder and Goode told agents the name of their supplier.

Agents seized $1,293 cash in Goode’s wallet.

Ms. Reeder was sentenced earlier to 77 months in federal prison.

TBI lab results confirmed the substance seized from the safe in the motel room Goode and Ms. Reeder shared tested positive for meth.
