Deaconbluz Headlines July 4 Lunch Celebration At The Jewish Cultural Center

The Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga invites the Chattanooga community to celebrate
Independence Day with an indoor, air-conditioned picnic event on Monday, July 4 at 11:30 a.m. at the Jewish Cultural Center, 5461 North Terrace Road.

Area blues musician Dr. Clark White, who professionally goes by deaconbluz will headline the event along with his Chattanooga All Stars band. There will be chicken sizzling on the grill with plenty of summer sides including potato salad, cole slaw, and dessert treats. Vegetarian meals are available if requested in advance.

"All in all this could be the best Independence Day picnic in town," officials said.

The cost to attend if paid before July 1 is $10 for adults; $5 kids ages eight-16, and $25 for a family of four, children seven and younger are free. The cost will increase by $4 per person at the door. RSVP by calling 493-0270 ext. 10 or rsvp@jewishchattanooga.com.

Bio on Dr. Clark White

Dr. White is a nationally known and in demand as a speaker, consultant, blues artist and blues music educator who teaches “Blues in the Schools” programs and consults with schools,museums, colleges-universities, senior citizen programs, recreation/cultural centers, and arts organizations. He has also produced the “deaconbluz radio show” which was broadcast over National Public Radio affiliated stations. He has been a consultant to the National Jazz Service Organization, the Pew Foundation, the Delta Blues Museum, the Chattanooga African American Museum, the Afro-American Museum of Philadelphia, the High Museum of Atlanta, The Mckenzie Foundation, Community Impact of Chattanooga/Lyndhurst Foundation, Riverbend Festival, and House of Hope.
