U.S. Air Force Veteran Was Pastor And Greeter At Lane Funeral Home's South Crest Chapel

Claude Franklin “C.F.” Strickland, 80, of Ringgold, died on Thursday, June 23, 2016.

A native of LaFayette, C.F. had lived most of his life in the north Georgia area and joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 18.  He served his country for over 20 years retiring as Staff Sergeant of the U.S. Air Force as a computer programmer.  Following his retirement, he pastored several churches in the area including Shiloh Baptist, Antioch Baptist, Lookout Baptist, Macedonia Baptist and Emmanuel Baptist Churches.  For over ten years C.F. served as a pastor and greeter at Lane Funeral Home’s South Crest Chapel.  He enjoyed working outside and was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan, loved playing golf, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Washington Redskins.  C.F. was known for his sense of humor and will be dearly missed. 

He was preceded in death by  his daughter, Marion Strickland, his parents, Harvey & Lola Strickland, brother, Wayne Strickland, and sister, Elizabeth Cummings O’Brien. 

C.F. loved God, his family, and his country.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Doris Strickland; children, Mark Strickland, Rossville and April (Dale) Waller of East Ridge; grandson, Tanner Vinyard; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 27, at 1:30 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend Mike Wallin and Reverend Tim Owens officiating.  Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors by the U.S. Air Force.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 26, from 2–4 and 6–8 p.m., and Monday, from 12:30 p.m. until the service hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
